Tadashi Hayakawa, a renowned and oft-featured artist at Bitfactory Gallery shares his knowledge through workshops meant to inspire emerging and other professional artists to learn from and support each other. The first Workshop Exhibition was held in 2022 as a showcase for all his participating students and will now take place on a biennial basis. This year’s iteration employs a more formal approach to the selection process. Each student was invited to submit up to 5 pieces for consideration of which Gallerist and curator Bill Thomason blindly juried into the show, selecting 18 works by nine artists. Attendees will see the effect that mentoring by an artist of Hayakawa’s caliber, via a workshop setting, can have on the creative process and execution of ideas. Workshop IIis on display at 815 Santa Fe Drive from June 21–July 13, 2024, with a public Opening Reception on Friday, June 21 from 6-9 p.m. and will be on view during regular gallery hours, Tuesday–Sunday 11-4 p.m. and during the First Friday Art Walk on Jul 5, 6-9 p.m.

“The work of each artist is sincere art produced from their imagination and heart. That is the most important goal of my workshop: nurturing work that comes from the artist’s soul.” Says Hayakawa, “Thomason has a mission to provide opportunities for artists that other galleries may not typically show. I appreciate his support, enthusiasm, and the opportunity he is giving to my workshop participants with this exhibition.
