Bitfactory Gallery presents Soul Purpose, an art exhibition, on view June 20 – July 12, 2025, featuring bold abstract expressionist paintings by artists Vicki Christensen, Pamela Hake, and Karen Valliant. As kindred spirits, they align in their compulsion to create, and in the idea that art is an essential element, adding true meaning to their lives. The works in this show are also in agreement, sharing an instinctive, emotive style that is unstructured yet restrained, dark and light, coming together as a dramatic yet harmonious whole. The public is invited to an Opening Reception on June 20, 6-9 p.m., and to view the show during regular business hours.

Soul Purpose acknowledges that the creative process helps these artists move through the bad times and allows them to feel exceptionally alive in the good times. Additionally, it speaks to the importance of fostering relationships with fellow artists and how those friendships enhance the experience of making art.

Christensen describes her art at the “therapeutic process of exploring and expressing [her] soul”. She accepts the contrast between her dark, weird, and eccentric side with the lightness and beauty she also holds within. In addition to being a fine artist, Christensen is an award-winning art director, designer, and photographer. After graduating from Arvada West High School with honors as Best Art Student she earned her higher education degree at the Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design. She currently enjoys the privilege and rewards of teaching young children and learning from them.

Hake uses the tangible elements of composition, color, and technique to convey the abstract language of her soul—to communicate the spirituality that she sees and feels within herself. She is moved to paint when inspired by a nature, a specific mood, or the excitement of color and movement that come with the process. She finds joy in capturing a state of being at a given moment in time.

Valliant’s large abstract paintings are spontaneous creations inspired by her love of calligraphy and letterforms. She spends most of her time on commission work, with many of her works now in private collections. She has participated in group gallery shows and works out of her studio in downtown Denver.
