Bitfactory Gallery is proud to present Lenscapes, an exhibition of photographic landscapes from teacher Lea Wagner’s Photography 2 & 3 Class at Thomas Jefferson High School. The show is on view from May 17 – June 8, 2024, and the public is invited to an Opening Reception on May 17 from 6-9 p.m. and to visit during regular gallery hours, Tuesday–Sunday 11 -4 p.m. and during the First Friday Art Walk on June 7, 6-9 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to attend and support the hard work these students put not only into the art, but into every aspect of preparing for the exhibition.

Thomason and Wagner put together a similar show two years ago but got students more involved this year to offer the real-life experience of working with a gallery. The classes first took a field trip to Bitfactory and asked questions of Thomason about the process of putting on the exhibition. Wagner guided them through the steps that a professional artist would take, such as determining a theme and name, choosing the work, framing/presenting, pricing, dropping work off to the gallery, filling out inventory forms, etc. The students will make money from their sales and paid in the same structure as other artists who show with Bitfactory.

“It was fun to work with the students, support their creativity, and share in the excitement of their success.” Said gallerist Bill Thomason. “Moving forward I plan to host her Photography 2 & 3 students on a biennial basis.”

Bitfactory Gallery, located at 851 Santa Fe Drive in the heart of Denver’s Art District on Santa Fe, exhibits work by the best emerging and up-and-coming local, national, and international visual artists, striving to showcase art that may not be a good fit for other galleries. They also host one major or renowned artist a year, bringing new and exciting work to Denver. The building also houses Bitfactory Studios with the vision of providing a helpful, friendly working atmosphere for artists and the Garage at Bitfactory, a pop-up gallery space available to rent in one-, three-, or seven-day blocks. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. and by appointment.
