Artist Jeff Fierberg captures the everyday moments of Seoul in the second of his 72 Hours photographic series

In the heart of South Korea a vibrant metropolis beckons with a magnetic charm that’s nothing short of enchanting. Here, where the past and future collide, there are opportunities to find visions of peace and moments of beauty in the daily movements of the city amidst a cacophony of sights and sounds that make up Seoul. Denver artist Jeff Fierberg set out to capture the essence of this remarkable city within the self-imposed constraints of time and logistics that challenged him on every level. The resulting collection of photographs 72 Hours: Seoul will be on display for only 72 hours (in keeping with the theme) at Bitfactory Gallery 851 Santa Fe Drive October 13- October 15, 2023

The series was conceptualized when the artist asked himself a question:
“After photographing dozens of cities on five different continents, always with a meticulous plan, I wondered, “What if I dropped into a place with no research, no game plan? How far can I push my boundaries by restricting my time, knowledge, and process?”

Through this process he discovered that, “In 72 hours there are millions of moments that could be captured in a city. My narrative focuses on the spaces and moments that accentuate a tension between intrapersonal emotions and framed moments in time.”

Fierberg is a professional photographer and the Creative Director and Owner of Sora Studios. When not behind a camera in city streets or in the back of kitchens, he meticulously photographs brand stories for his high-visibility clients. He has also presented at Martha’s Vineyard International Film Festival, lectured several panels on storytelling and brand building and debuted a virtual reality experience at The Redline Center. Fierberg’s most recent exhibitions include the solo shows of Shibui and Konbini at Dairy Block, a series showcasing the dichotomy of macro-Japanese cultures and micro-Japanese convenience store culture. Fierberg studied Filmmaking and Film Theory at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
